For most of my life competitiveness in all sports has been with myself Gary Mitchell Sr. and former friends from Leeds High School. Leeds High School was a quiet force behind Coaches Bobby Fairley, Coach Bundy, and Coach Brian Terry's image as the “Track Capital.”
In the Spring of 2008 and 2009 I decided something needed to be done to stimulate interest in track and field during the summer months. A come back was staged to compete at the Alabama Sports Festival and afterwards Gary Mitchell decided to start a non-profit track club for all upcoming new competitors and former athletes.
The mission of the Alabama Sports Competitors Track Club (ASCTC) team is to lead, train, and develop youth, young men and women to compete on all levels in the track & field sport. In addition, ASCTC is committed to developing them as strong leaders to impact the world by supporting and assisting them to achieve at the highest levels athletically, academically, and socially.
ASCTC welcome all competitive athletes with interest to join the club, assist in training, or train to compete in upcoming events for youths, men, and women.
